She says every month that goes by without an economic recovery (note she use the word recovery, not stimulus) package, 500 million American's lose their jobs. Hmmm. I think that would be rather difficult seeing there is only 300 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE US!!!

Glenn Beck had a funny conversation with Stu this morning about Pelosi's comment. Nice to hear a lighter moment on his show. Been a lot of gloom and doom lately.

How does this promote the economy?
It's becoming more and more clear that Obama and company are using this so-called stimulus package to further their own socialist liberal agenda. Please contact your Congress representatives ASAP to protest this disgraceful profligate spending.
I was just listening to Glenn Beck and he says it is essential that we keep hounding people in Congress so that our opinions are clearly known. It will also serve as encouragement for those noble representatives that know this economic package is a bunch of whooey.

Getting Started Again

Ok, having a new baby totally knocked this blog off the agenda for a time, but now I hope to get back at it.
Obviously, the election didn't turn out as I had hoped. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Obama administration. Maybe the country will finally realize that throwing money at problems will not make them go away.
I heard on Thom Hartman (liberal talk show host) that we should have a $16-17 minimum wage. Is this guy nuts? Flipping burgers at McDonald's is not worth paying someone 16 bucks an hour. It is a totally legitimate job, but it does not require the skills that say, a nurse would require. If we raised the minimum wage to that price, don't people realize that the cost of everything will go up? We would have to increase more skilled laborers wages, a hamburger at McDonalds would cost 3x more than it does now, and we'd be in a bigger financial crisis than we are now.

During my ramblings on facebook, I found this site. Here's a quote:

Do we need another September 11 to wake these people up? They have no clue what an immediate end to the war would mean. It is prioritizing human needs by staying in Iraq. Its protecting the people on American soil. Also, this group complains because people are without healthcare--I'm sure they are in support of socialized health care like Canada. Anyone who thinks socialized healthcare is the way to go needs to watch "Sick in America," a documentary by John Stossel. DOGS have better health care in Canada than people do! Also, check out statistics about how much American's give to charities, etc. We don't need the gov't to take care of us. We can take care of each other. And we certainly don't need the gov't to enable dependency. Its time we start taking responsibillity for our own futures, not depending on the gov't to bail us out everytime something goes wrong.

Listening to Thom Hartmann right now. He's concerned about Sarah Palin's religion. He says the church she is associated with raises up its children to be militants. His guest asserted that Sarah Palin is in favor of a theocracy, based on statements she has made.
First, they are really stretching by trying to connect Sarah Palin with a radical church. Second, what about Obama and Jeremiah Wright? They have to dig so deep to try and come up with dirt on Palin and it is majorly backfiring on them.

Obama and McCain at Ground Zero

Malkin mentions that Obama flings the rose while McCain gently places his rose, but I don't want to nitpick about that. But I thought it was interesting to see how McCain interacted with the men in uniforms and how Obama did. McCain seemed to have much more rapport and seemed more comfortable with the situation.

Also, where was Michelle Obama? I heard reports that she was at home with her daughters, but after her comment, "This is the first time I've been proud to be an American," it seems like it would have been a good idea for her to be at Ground Zero. Interesting.

Today is the seventh anniversary of September 11, 2001. I'm sure all of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on this morning 7 years ago when our nation was viciously attacked. Please remember all our servicemen and women who are fighting to keep a tragedy like this from happening again. And when you vote for our next president, think about which man would be better prepared to deal with terrorism and war. Yes, it has been seven years, but there are still enemies out there, enemies who would like nothing better than to see Sept 11 happen all over again. Remember.
